Anya & Michael,

I appreciate your comments. Logically, I knew that I had to call the police, and I'm glad I did; my conscience is clear because of it. But still, I had a nagging guilt for "tattling" on someone. But you've both reinforced my decision, and I thank you for it.

Sleep Deprivation IS a narcotic. I'm a professional driver as well as a photographer. There are no laws for how many hours I choose to work as a photographer, there are VERY strict laws about how many hours I can work if I drive... and these include hours that I am not driving!

Calling the police was the only acceptable decision to make; bravo for saving a life. Really. In the six multi-car accidents I've been near (but thankfully not part of!) in four cases there were multiple drunk drivers. The other two involved somebody falling asleep at the wheel.

So the police weren't able to get that guy off the road that night... but when they get calls like this, they will (time permitting) keep an eye out for that vehicle on the same day of the week, same time of day. If it is sleep related, it is probably work related... and they will catch him after work again.

You did a good thing... and I thank you!

Do you know that drivers with lack of sleep are considered to be of the same danger on road as drunken drivers? Don't belive it? there are some bad statistics out there.
this is a spooky experience, i wonder how this guys kept his foot on brake all this time?
