PVX: McDonald’s in Peru

I mentioned briefly in the last post that I went to McDonald’s in Ecuador. I wanted to make a video about eating there, but when I left Quito, I didn’t realize that would be my last shot at a Mickey-D’s in the country. (There’s no McDonald’s in Cuenca, just a KFC and a Burger King.) Anyway, I wasn’t about to risk that happening again in Peru. Before we left the capital city, I made sure to have cameras rolling for my order.
It was fun putting this video together; I may try to do it again with the other countries we visit, too.
A simple McDonald’s menu tells quite a lot about the differences in our cultures. It’s interesting that what we see here in the USA as pretty pedestrian fare (cold canned corn)is a McDonald’s treat akin to french fries — and yet I am almost positive the USA will never see one of those beautifully crafted passion fruit mousses on our menu :o) It’d be fun to be riding past the local McDonald’s and have the grandkids screaming “Gramma! Passion fruit mousse!!!! Pleeeeeeease????”
I still remember getting two McDonalds Apple Pies in Japan (I had to point at the picture since I couldn’t speak the the language fluently enough) and finding out that they were actually calamari?/octopus? pot pies. I didn’t get through bite three.
McDonalds of the World…That would make for a great book.
